Indian Motorcycle®, America’s first motorcycle company, today announced the newest and edgiest member of the Indian Chief line-up and the first 2016 model — the Indian® Chief Dark Horse®.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse is a cruiser built upon the successful and award-winning Indian Chief platform. Unlike other bikes in the Indian Motorcycle line-up, it is understated with only a flash of chrome and adds a healthy dose of matte black paint to create one of the most confident silhouettes on the market. By all but eliminating chrome from the motorcycle and swapping to cast wheels, the Dark Horse conveys an aggressive pose, and being the lightest in the series, is the quickest model in the Chief family.
Striking an ideal balance of attitude and features, the 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse delivers the style, quality and power expected from an Indian Motorcycle, with a price point set to tempt riders to the dark-side. The Dark Horse conveys a bold attitude that demands attention for all the right reasons.
Blacked-out from end to end, the Dark Horse does not lack features. Powered by the highly rated Thunder Stroke® 111 engine and wrapped in the same chassis and suspension of the Indian Chief Classic, the Dark Horse also maintains ABS, a remote key fob for keyless ignition, electronic cruise control, and features a promotional* 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse is an ideal motorcycle for those seeking to customize their rides. With 40 available accessories rolling out during the spring and early summer, riders can add components to black-out their ride even more. Items such as ape hanger handlebars, accessory air cleaners, fender struts, slip-on exhaust with black heat shields and exhaust tips, and black fender trim help create the fully blacked-out look.
Built to be an aggressive solo ride, the passenger seat plus either passenger foot-pegs or floor boards are available as part of the Genuine Indian Motorcycle Accessory line-up for those who want to ride two-up.
“The Indian Chief Dark Horse is unlike anything else currently available from Indian Motorcycle,” said Indian Motorcycle Sr. Product Manager, Ben Lindaman. “While it shares the best traits with other models in the Chief platform, its signature matte black paint and minimalist profile give it an attitude unlike any other Indian motorcycle. We’re excited to unveil this new bike at an engaging price point for a full-size heavyweight American cruiser.”
The 2016 Indian Chief Dark Horse will be available in dealers from Spring 2015* and will be a featured demo bike at the annual Daytona Bike Week from March 7th – 14th.
Pressemelding fra lanseringen i Chicago:
Chicago (February 13, 2015) – Victory Motorcycles is debuting this weekend the first-ever immersive motorcycle brand virtual ride experience at the Chicago Progressive International Motorcycle Show. Using Oculus Rift, tactile transducers, realistic real-time 3D graphics, custom-recorded motorcycle motor audio, throttle control, and a custom motorcycle stand with range of motion, Victory Motorcycles is the first motorcycle brand to offer fans a virtual ride experience – allowing motorcycle enthusiasts the next best thing to a ride in the middle of winter.
“Victory is always in pursuit of enhancing the ride experience,” said Rod Krois, Victory General Manager. “It’s tough to do this during the winter months in a cold climate, but not impossible. By combining VR with the physical elements of a ride, we’re able to transport riders for a few minutes into a sun-filled summer Sturgis ride. It’s unlike anything motorcycle riders have experienced and proves the exhilarating performance of Victory Motorcycles in a different way.”
At this weekend’s event, fans be seated on a Victory Gunner, fitted with both an Oculus Rift VR headset and headphones that play custom audio of the bike’s motor through a 2-minute pre-dusk ride through the Badlands transitioning into Needles Highway near Sturgis, South Dakota. A tactile transducer fixed to the bike connected to audio simulates the motor running throughout. Riders will have throttle control, allowing them to accelerate the experience, and a custom motorcycle stand with motion allows riders to lean into their virtual ride.
The Victory Motorcycles Virtual Ride Experience will be available to all event attendees at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center Friday through this Sunday, February 13 – 15. Fans can visit www.motorcycleshows.com/chicago to see event hours and purchase tickets.
